2-hour Workshop on "Learning Design Futurology & the Learning Function 3.0"
3rd Corporate Universities & Ac@demies Summit
July 2013 in Brussels, Belgium
Representing Future Workplace, GAIA Insights facilitated a 2-hour Workshop on "Learning Design Futurology & the Learning Function 3.0" at the 3rd Corporate Universities & Ac@demies Summit in Brussels, in July 2013. Moving into the digital era, HR Professionals, L&D Directors, CLOs and other corporate education stakeholders have to completely regrind their lenses: they have to rethink their workspace as a mobile-enabled, geo-locative, multi-platform-driven, game- and community-based learning landscape. The event offered a great platform for over 30 speakers and 200 delegates to do just that. During our highly appraised interactive workshop we covered topics such as:
- The next generation impact and the culture of the hyperconnected learners
- Creating social learning platforms to enable learning interaction
- Getting up to speed on gamification in learning concepts
- MOOCs, open education and beyond

90-min. Masterclass on "Engagement in the 2020 Workplace: Retaining the Future Workforce"
3rd Annual Global HR Forum
June 2013 in Vienna, Austria
GAIA Insights' founder Martina Mangelsdorf attended this event in her role as European Director of the 2020 Workplace Network. The forum's theme was "Engaging Employee Experience" and Martina facilitated a masterclass session on "Engagement in the Workplace of 2020", outlining the main drivers for retaining the future workforce. Her presentation was highly appreciated by attending delegates from over 20 countries and focused on a couple of main themes:
- Engaging Millennials (and everyone) in different ways which are unique or take on new meaning in the global and digital era
- Sharing various examples of what companies are implementing to engage and retain people differently, given the big shifts in how we learn, work and communicate at work
In order to share what we learned from attending practitioners and other speakers, we tweeted live from the event and shared approximately 120 tweets with the hashtag #FE_HRtalk on Twitter.
"I attended the masterclass session held by Martina at the Global HR Forum on Engaging Employee Experience. Martina has a charismatic attendance in the room and was able to hold the attendees' attention with no effort throughout the slides. This is an impressive skill many public speakers don't have. I would love to attend any future workshops held by Martina."

60-min. Spotlight Session on "Learning Agility, Innovation Types and Generational Development Preferences"
9th Annual Pharma HR Forum
June 2014 in Barcelona, Spain
After having opened the 8th Annual Pharma HR Forum in 2013 with a keynote speech, in 2014 GAIA Insights founder Martina Mangelsdorf was brought back for a special feature spotlight session. Martina's background is in the pharmaceutical industry and she was delighted to discuss the latest trends in developing pharma talent with industry practitioners and thought leaders from companies such as AstraZeneca, GSK, Merck, Novartis, Pfizer, Roche, Sanofi Aventis and others. The event gathered HR professionals from the pharmaceutical industry, both private and public sectors, for two days of best practice sharing, learning and networking. 20+ speakers and panelists lectured on "Change Agility - Focused Organizational Development and Capability Development". In this context, addressing the importance of learning agility, different innovation types and developing a multi-generational workplace, was a perfect fit for the forum.
Gen Y Lounge Participant Feedback about a similar event:
"I recently participated in one of GAIA Insights' Gen Y Lounge Live Sessions. The very lively presentation was clear, well-structured and gave a good overview. I liked that the Lounge was very interactive and composed of a variety of activities like presentation of slides, short movies, personal examples from the participants and workshop components. And all this in a very personal setting. I have just recently started to think about generation questions and must clearly say that the participation in the Gen Y Lounge raised my attention to this topic significantly."
